PaZo Teatro is a theater company born in 2019 in Modena, from the collaboration between Amalia Ruocco, dancer, actress, acrobat and choreographer, Francesco Bocchi, actor and stilt walker, and Laura Bruni, stilt walker, dancer, acrobat. Other artists have gone through and accompany the activities of the group, which maintains a constant desire for openness and collaboration with other artists and other groups. 

PaZo recalls the Greek páthos, emotion, from the most placid to the most irrational, with an evident sound reference to the term "crazy"; but it is also the acronym of the three dimensions that characterize the artistic research of the group, Word, ACTION and Observation, drawing on the broadest and at the same time concrete meanings that they can include. 

The company mixes different languages, from dance to circus to puppetry, having as its central point the investigation of the infinite potential of the body. Body understood as "global", in its expression and in its ability to tell and transmit, in a universal and transversal way, much more than words. 

The shows and performances created often dialogue with the specificities of the places and contexts in which they are born or develop.

The projects curated so far start from the need to investigate current and universal themes, which are gutted over a long time, often giving life to different works that have a common root of origin.

The Company is supported by Somantica Project Asd Aps, an association born in 2010 thanks to the passion of a group of young rhythmic gymnasts, united by the desire to devote themselves to artistic creation and social activity. Founded by Linda Petracca and Laura Bruni, it has welcomed numerous artists and creators, created shows and social projects in Italy and beyond, reaching as far as Brazil thanks to the collaboration with Modena Third World.

AMALIA RUOCCO

 

A dancer, actress, and acrobat, she graduated from the Nouveau Cinque Advanced Course at the A. Garrone Theater School of Bologna and the Flic Circus School in Turin. She continued her studies in dance, acrodance, and physical theater, with forays into traditional Indian theater and elsewhere. In 2013, she became a permanent member of Somantica Project Aps . Precise and methodical—sometimes a little too much—she devours books and creamy desserts.

She is the founder, director, and choreographer of PaZo Teatro; she collaborates with Zaches Teatro (Florence), Plim Creazioni (Bidogno, Ticino), and is the artistic director of OSA! Organico Scena Artistica (Locarno, Ticino). Other companies she has worked with include Artemis Danza (Parma), Teatro dei Venti (Modena), and Teatro nel Baule (Naples).

FRANCESCO BOCCHI

 

Actor, stilt walker, and expert in historical dance. He holds a degree in Live Performance Studies, specializing in the figure of the castrated singer in emerging 17th-century opera—a reflection of his far-from-pop tastes.

She currently collaborates with the companies Teatro dei Venti (Modena), Corona Events (Montielli Pavese), Parola Bianca (Modena, Cape Town), Curious Bubbles (Modena), and Nu'Art (Verona). She has led theater, movement, and stilt-walking workshops for (almost) every living thing.
