According to Marie Louise Von Franz, the dark characters in folk tales and fairy tales reveal an inner truth: the Shadow. The Shadow is everything that dwells in our unconscious and that we do not want to face: fear, anger, desire, loneliness.

Thus, in traditional tales, the Shadow takes on a form external to us, in the guise of an unknown monster. Only by embracing the Shadow as part of ourselves can we rediscover unity—or rather, accept our own multiplicity.

Bestiario Fantastico explores the boundary between Light and Shadow, lingering at the point where these two realities cease to be opposing categories and reveal possibilities for connection. Folk tradition, as an archive of hybrid figures and oral and written tales, becomes a creative tool that questions the present—a lens through which to investigate identity and the unconscious, bringing to the surface emotions, anxieties, and desires rooted in our collective imagination.

“Bestiario Fantastico” prioritizes physical exploration and the construction of a dramaturgy through images. Dance, physical theater, contemporary circus, and object theater interact without hierarchy, transforming the body into a site of metamorphosis.
